മൊഴിമാറ്റം – രാമൻ മുണ്ടനാട്

പൊഴിഞ്ഞാലും, എൻ ഹൃദയമേ, കാലവൃക്ഷത്തിൽ നിന്നും
പൊഴിഞ്ഞാലും, ഇലകളേ, പണ്ടു സൂര്യൻ പുണർന്നിരുന്ന,
ഇപ്പോൾ തണുത്തുറഞ്ഞതാം ശിഖരങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും.
പൊഴിഞ്ഞാലും, വീങ്ങിയ കണ്ണിൽനിന്നുമശ്രുക്കൾ പോൽ.
ദിനാന്തരങ്ങളിൽ ഭൂമിദേവന്റെ മുടിയിളകുന്നു കാറ്റിൽ
സൂര്യതാപം തളർത്തിയ പുരികങ്ങൾക്കുമേൽ
അവൻ മുഷ്ടി ചുരുട്ടവേ വാ പിളർക്കുന്നു
അവന്റെ കുപ്പായത്തിനടിയിലൊരു മുറിവ്.
ഒരിയ്ക്കൽ കൂടി, ഒരു മേഘം മൃദുവാമതിൻ പുറം കുനിച്ച്
നിന്നെ വണങ്ങവേ, ദൃഢമായിരിയിരിക്കുക.
ഹൈമെറ്റസ് തേനീച്ചകളെ ശ്രദ്ധിയ്ക്കുകയേ വേണ്ട.
അവൻ നിന്റെ തേൻകൂടുകൾ നിറച്ചുകൊള്ളും.
കർഷകനെ സ്സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം വരൾച്ചയുടെ കാലത്തിൽ
ഒരു വൈക്കോൽത്തുറുവെന്നതേ തുച്ഛമാണ്.
നമ്മുടെ മഹാവംശത്തിന് ഒരു വേനൽ നിസ്സാരം.
നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന് പിന്നെയെന്ത് സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്താനാവും.
ഇന്നലെയ്ക്കും നാളെയ്ക്കുമിടയിൽ അത് ചാഞ്ചാടുന്നു.
വിദേശിയും മൂകയുമായ അത് മിടിയ്ക്കവേ സംഭവിപ്പത്
സമയത്തിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള അതിന്റെ കൊഴിഞ്ഞുവീഴ്ചയാണ്.

Fall, my heart, from the tree of time,
fall, you leaves, from icy branches
that once the sun embraced,
fall, as tears fall from the widened eye!

For a straw in times of drought means little to the peasant,
a summer little to our great lineage.
And to what can your heart attest?
Between yesterday and tomorrow it swings,
foreign and mute,
and what it beats,
is its fall out of time.
