Born in Thrissur, Kerala, 1994. Deepak Poulose did his BFA in painting from Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur, Kerala (2019), MFA in painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan (2021); BSc in zoology from Christ college, Irinjalakuda, Kerala (2016) and a three- year course in Multi- Media and Animation. He has participated in Encore final display at GCFA, Thrissur (2019); International Art Fest, IGNCA, Delhi (2018); the Kochi Muziris Student’s Biennale (Kerala, 2021); the Kerala Lalitkala Academy State exhibition at Durbar hall Ernakulam (2020); Imaginarium group exhibition at Emami Art Kolkata (2021); Space studio, baroda open sudio exhibition(2021); Turtles can tell more about road than hares, group exhibition, (curated by O Sunder- 2020) among many others. He has also taken part in art residencies and workshops and received many grants and awards, including K.Karunakaran Student’s Scholarship, Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi (2019); Got Kerala lalita kala academy students scholarship (2021); Shrishti- American Indian Foundation Grant (2020); Special Mention Award, Kerala Lalit Kala Academy (2020); PDAF special merit grant in pai- nting (2020); residency at NSHM, Durgapur (2019); four month residency at Space studio, Baroda (2021); one month residency at Emami art, (KCC- 2021). Imbued with personal myths, Deepaks works merge the familiar with fantastical. Meditative in practice and meticulous in style, Deepak has opened a subtle yet critical conversation through which he addresses one of the most predominant issues of the contemporary time. The artist in- scribes the slow derange of the natural world through his visual language that is rich in metaphors and symbols yet fluid in interpretation.While celebrating the primitive bond between man and nature, his works also mourn the disappearing sensitivities towards nature, contributing to the discourse of the ideal and utopic.
