I can simply and uniquely say that,
Varathan would undoubtedly find a place in the list of the best theatrical delicacy of the recent times. There is the punch of Amal Neerad all over the movie. In his own style, he implements a solid and a sharp movie, which will keep you on toes.
The movie is about a couple and it explores a woman’s perspective in a relationship. Then it deals with some highly pertinent issues like scopophiliac tendencies and voyeurism which are the most ugly truth in Gods own country, which increasingly getting caught in the quagmire of moral policing of different shades, that we come across in the society around us. From there the story moves ahead with those tensions and how it affects their relationship as well, with affecting scenes and well written dialogues. Each frame of this movie has something for the viewer. Littil Swayamp has kept the tone warm for the thriller. The first half has nothing new in terms of a story. Amal Neerad has bid adieu to the usual stylish elements at least in the first half and opted for rooted to reality storytelling which the script warrants.
The second half though could veer off to show how Aby the outsider tackles the uninvited troubles to his family and house. It is hard to take our eyes away whenever Fahadh is on screen, as he gets in to the skin of the character so convincingly and adequately. Aiswarya Lakshmi put another realistic and pragmatic performance which add authenticity to a mature wife that is her character role as Priya in the movie.
Top notch technicality shown in this film gives a visual treat to the eyes. The astounding and overwhelming climax of the movie reveal the competence of the cinematographer and the maker.
So never miss this gripping, spine chilling revenge drama…
My verdict : 5/5 for the prowess cinematography & all-inclusive 4/5
